EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme

EPICUR > EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme

The EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme is an innovative mobility programme for Bachelor and Master students that connects the regions of the European University by offering students cross-border internships in one of the EPICUR universities’ locations. Gain practical experience abroad through an internship at an enterprise or at a civil society organisation, broaden your horizons and improve your intercultural skills!

This Internship Programme combines on-site internships or virtual internships with online learning elements that allow students to acquire essential skills for their future profession in times of growing globalisation and digitalisation and interact with other participants in the programme from different countries. Additional components, e.g., intercultural trainings, are offered to all participants of the programme.

The 2- to 5-month EPICUR internships will be offered between February and June 2022.

Formats of internships

The second run of the programme starts in February 2022 with two different formats of internships:

Internships at private enterprises

Internships at private enterprises offer advanced bachelor and master’s students the opportunity to gain work experience at successful start-ups. Located in the regions of the EPICUR universities, many start-ups bring innovation to their regions in different fields. Furthermore, the start-ups’ environments may encourage the students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset at an early stage and, thus, enhance their employability. Some of the enterprises also operate in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Internships at civil society organisations as part of an intercultural Service-Learning Course

« En route! » – Become a global citizen through cross-border service learning, coordinated by the ZAK | Centre for Cultural and General Studies at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)

Service learning combines an innovative way of academic learning with civic engagement in an organisation of the third sector*. By working on a voluntary basis at one of our partner organisations, you gain work-based experience and strengthen your civic engagement and intercultural skills. The interns at civil society organisations take part in the intercultural service-learning course (compulsory), which provides space to reflect on academic topics and individual experiences. The online course starts on 3rd February 2022 and runs until 23rd June 2022 biweekly on Thursdays from 13:00 to 14:30 CET.

ECTS recognition is not yet regulated. A recognition of 6 ECTS may be possible, provided that the internship and service-learning course have been successfully completed and that you received prior approval from the appropriate authorities at your home university!

* Organisations of the third sector: NGOs, welfare associations, political and church organisations, theatres, cultural organisations, emerging initiatives, foundations, environmental agencies, and social enterprises.

All internship positions will be available in mid-September on EPICUR Inter-University Campus (EIUC)
