EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme

EPICUR > Education > EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme

! Registration for EPICUR internships is now closed

The EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme connects the regions of the European University by offering students cross-border internships in one of the EPICUR universities’ locations. Gain practical experience abroad through an internship in an enterprise or in a civil society organisation, broaden your horizons and improve your intercultural skills! Work in an international environment while staying at your current location (due to your personal situation or persisting travel restrictions)! Be part of the EPICUR Internship Exchange Programme, which is fully virtual in the 2021 pilot run (due to the pandemic and to enable innovative and inclusive student mobility)!

This programme allows EPICUR students to have the opportunity to acquire important skills for their later profession in times of growing globalisation and digitalisation. The virtual 2-month internship (minimum) between June and October 2021 enables innovative and inclusive formats of student mobility. Additional components, e.g. intercultural trainings, are offered to all participants of the programme.

Regions and types of positions

Currently, there are internship positions available in the regions of Karlsruhe, Vienna, Poznan and Thessaloniki. Most of the internship providers have experience in offering virtual internships.

Choose from a wide range of internship options. Would you be interested in supporting an online platform for languages, getting insights into software development, supporting the development of smart city solutions, developing social media strategies, working creatively and initiating a new project or joining a social-cultural organisation as a video editor or international office assistant? Then apply and become part of the programme! All internship positions are exclusively available for EPICUR students here!

Internships at private enterprises

Internships at private enterprises offer master’s and advanced bachelor students the opportunity to gain work experience at successful start-ups. Whether located in Vienna, Thessaloniki, Poznan or Karlsruhe, there are many start-ups that bring innovation to their regions in different fields. Furthermore, the start-ups’ environments may encourage the students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset at an early stage and, thus, enhance their employability. Some of the enterprises operate in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Internships at civil society organisations with Intercultural Service-Learning Course

« En route! » – Become a global citizen through cross-border service learning, coordinated by the ZAK | Centre for Cultural and General Studies at Karlsruhe Institut of Technology (KIT)

Service learning combines an innovative way of academic learning with voluntary work in an organisation of the third sector*. By working on a voluntary basis (10 hours per week) at one of our community partners, you gain work-based experience and strengthen your civic engagement and intercultural skills. The interns at civil society organisations take part in the intercultural service-learning course (compulsory), which provides space to reflect on academic topics and individual experiences. The virtual course starts on Friday, 14th May 2021 with an introductory workshop and runs until October 2021.

ECTS recognition is not yet regulated. A recognition of 6 ECTS may be possible, provided that the internship and service-learning course have been successfully completed and that you received prior approval from the appropriate authorities at your home university!

* Organisations of the third sector: NGOs, welfare associations, political and church organisations, theatres, cultural organisations, emerging initiatives, foundations, environmental agencies and social enterprises.
