Co-Creating a European University EPICUR Student Think Tank

EPICUR > Non classifié(e) > Co-Creating a European University EPICUR Student Think Tank

29 Sept – 1 Oct 2020 in Freiburg*

The EPICUR Alliance (European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions) builds bridges between the creative academic communities of eight leading European universities from Amsterdam (NL), Freiburg (DE), Karlsruhe (DE), Mulhouse-Colmar (FR), Poznań (PL), Strasbourg (FR), Thessaloniki (GR), Vienna (AT), serving as knowledge centres to the surrounding research and innovation landscapes.

Current and future generations of students, as well as teachers, researchers and staff, will engage in interdisciplinary, multilingual, research-inspired teaching and learning as well as cutting-edge research and innovation in an inter-university campus without borders. EPICUR features a student-centred approach, inviting students to partake in a co-creation process on all levels of the project –from course development to modelling an inclusive governance structure.

The vision of students

Next to the EPICUR Student Board, each partner university organizes student involvement on a local level. The EPICUR Freiburg Team would like to kickoff its local student involvement with a think tank. By providing students with time and resources to discuss and formulate their views on a European University that fits their needs and desires, the Freiburg EPICUR team intends to tie the ideas of its students into its overall work on the project. The recommendations and ideas developed in Freiburg will then feed into the EPICUR wide event, scheduled for October 2020 in Poznan, which will gather students from all eight partners to share and discuss their local visions.

The Freiburg Think Tank: On two days, 29 and 30 September 2020, groups of students from various study programmes at the University of Freiburg will discuss and formulate recommendations for the EPICUR team. These will be presented to EPICUR staff on 1 October 2020 (morning only). First, the students will be introduced to the project’s goals and working packages. In small groups of up to 5 students, each group will then focus on one aspect of EPICUR’s work, supported by a tutor who is member of the EPICUR Student Board or the EPICUR Freiburg Team. Other EPICUR team members will be available for questions. Towards the end of the Think Tank, every group will present their recommendations to the other groups in order to coordinate the recommendations.

On 1 October, all groups will collectively present the recommendations to the representatives of the EPICUR team. This presentation will be recorded to be shared with the other members of the EPICUR team.

*This event will take place physically in Freiburg and concerns only students of the University of Freiburg.
